Meet Kieran
Kieran Broome always wanted to join the circus as a young child. He loved the circus, but fell asleep at his first show before his favourite act: the trapeze.
Fast forward 20 years, and Kieran finally started circus as an adult. His favourite apparatus are aerial silks, net, cloud, and hooping.
He draws many teaching skills from his day job as an occupational therapist, managing and preventing injury, adapting activities to suit those with individual or special needs, and helping people build confidence.
He has completed research projects at the University of the Sunshine Coast exploring circus arts, primarily in the area of social circus and circus for people with a disability (including development of a social circus outcome measure, running and evaluating social circus classes for people with disabilities, and theoretical video analysis of social circus through an occupational therapy lens).
Kieran is also a licenced dogger and rigger.
About Mary Valley Circus
Established in 2013, Mary Valley Circus (previously known as Imbil Circus Classes) brought the joy of circus to the towns of the Mary Valley.
Since then, circus has enjoyed an explosion in popularity, with schools also starting close by in Brooloo, Coolum Beach, Yandina Creek and Gympie.
Mary Valley Circus is a small business and largely a social enterprise formed to benefit the community.
The business aims to provide the local community with opportunity to learn circus arts at a local venue for reasonable costs.
Circus arts are both a fun way to stay fit and healthy, as well as an artistic outlet that builds creativity, confidence and self-expression.
